The Woods
The weather today was absolutely gorgeous. We gobbled up lunch after school as quick as we could and planned an adventure.
We have a creek that runs through our neighborhood and is surrounded by a narrow but heavily wooded area. A dirt path winds down the center and takes you over bridges and up and down a few staircases that I always assume were built as an Eagle Scout project but I guess Parks & Rec might maintain them.
Usually we just 'hike' the entire length of the path but the urge to dig has come on strong so we brought tools so we could get some serious work done today- this was no leisurely walk in the park!
I love watching them play, imagine and invent together away from the noise and distraction of friends and classmates. They can be themselves entirely and they thoroughly enjoy it.
I'm glad I brought the camera along today because the light was just right and I got some great pictures of these growing boys.
Their summer of '5' is almost here and we can't wait! The super warm weather today got us in the mood for shorts, t-shirts and playing outside for hours!

How wonderful for the boys to have woods and a creek to explore in the fresh air and sunshine. I hope there are tadpoles in the creek, boys always love them. I too am glad you took your camera, the pictures are wonderful.
My wish is that all little boys could have adventures like this in a place close to their home, and a playmate that knows everything about you and is the exact same age!
